Why You Need to Have A Chimney

The chimney is necessary in any building where a fireplace is used, in order to filter the smoke out of the closed space. If it weren’t for the chimney, using the home fireplace would be dangerous.

Common Chimney Problems

The chimney, like most of the furniture we have in our house, needs regular care and maintenance, in order to allow it to operate regularly, and also to extend its life. Among the main problems that arise when dealing with fireplace chimneys are:

Wear and tear of the material – the chimney is made of different types of materials, which all have in common is obsolescence. Every material ages, and it is important to have your hand on the pulse when it comes to the maintenance and replacement of parts of the chimney, in order to preserve its regular activity.

A clogged chimney – a chimney, as many harmful substances pass through it, accumulates a lot of dirt, dust and soot, so it often gets clogged. This is the most common problem in the context of chimneys for fireplaces, so there are two methods of action for the solution:

1. Cleaning the fireplace chimney: the owner of the fireplace must order an expert chimney cleaner who will clean the chimney with professional means. A professional  would know how to use various means to solve the problem of clogging in the stack, such as: material for cleaning chimneys, various technological and mechanical means without damaging the chimney itself.

2. Cleaning the fireplace: sometimes the blockage in the chimney is due to the accumulation of dirt inside the fireplace. When the fireplace is particularly dirty, the smoke it emits is particularly thick, and therefore accumulates too easily in the chimney. Therefore, cleaning the fireplace can prevent the recurrence of the blockage and facilitate the opening of the existing blockage.

The owner of the fireplace must carry out routine inspections with professionals who will make sure that all parts of the fireplace and chimney are working properly. If one of the parts of the fireplace is defective, it is recommended to replace or repair it as soon as possible in order to prevent various malfunctions in the functioning of the fireplace.

It is important to clean the fireplace often, for reasons of health and regular operation of the fireplace. A fireplace whose chimney is clogged will work poorly and will not heat properly. In extreme cases, it may even break and cause damage.

The cleaning of the chimney should not be carried out by ourselves – for this there are professionals who are experts in the subject and know how to use the right cleaning materials in the form of a fireplace and chimney cleaner.
